New station in Ottumwa, Iowa
Ottumwa, IA—WNG-730, 162.500 MHz, 300 W, NWS Des Moines
From the Des Moines, IA NWS website:
“A new NOAA Weather Radio station, WNG-730 broadcasting at 162.500 Mhz, is now serving parts of eight Iowa counties in southeast Iowa. The new station began transmitting weather information on September 29, 2005. The broadcast-service area includes Lucas, Monroe, Wapello, Wayne, Appanoose, Mahaska, Keokuk and Davis counties.
The National Weather Service and Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management appreciate the public service of FMC Broadcasting, Inc., who is hosting the NOAA Weather Radio transmitter on their tower in Ottumwa, IA. A dedication is likely and another announcement will be sent when details are known.”
